جمهوری اسلامی برای مجبور کردن زنان به رعایت حجاب اجباری پس از اعتراضات سراسری در ایران به روش‌هایی از جمله جریمه و تشکیل پرونده قضایی، پلمب کسب‌وکارها و توقیف خودروها روی آورده است. اما گروهی از زنان در تهران و شهرهای دیگر در آنچه «مبارزه مدنی روزمره» می‌خوانند، با پوشش اختیاری در معابر عمومی و رویدادها حاضر می‌شوند و با اشاره به کشته و زخمیان اعتراضات می‌گویند «دیگر به عقب برنمی‌گردیم.»
