Mahasti, born Eftekhari Dadehbala, was one of the most renowned Iranian singers of traditional and pop music. She was born on November 16, 1946, in Tehran and passed away on June 25, 2007, at the age of 60 in Santa Rosa, California. Mahasti derived her stage name from Mahsati Ganjavi, a famous Iranian poet.
Early Life and Beginning of Her Career
Mahasti grew up in a culturally and religiously inclined family. She was encouraged by her sister Hayedeh, another prominent Iranian singer, to enter the world of art. Her singing talent was discovered by Parviz Yahaghi, and at the age of 17, she performed her first song, "Anke Delam Ra Borde Khodaya", on the Golha-ye Rangarang program.
Personal LifeMahasti married twice, but both marriages ended in divorce. She had a daughter named Sahar Nazemian from her first marriage and two grandchildren named Natasha and Natalie. Her personal life was influenced by her separation from her husband, which inspired songs like "Bia Khoneh" and "Dolghak".

Mahasti and her sister Hayedeh are both influential figures in Iranian music
and are often referred to as the "Lady of Iranian Song".
